vs S.B.S.

The night of May 29th 2006 saw a record fall.

The ladder hadn't been updated from the previous week. But were probably still 3rd.

Our lineup tonight was David, Thorpe, Bob, Jarrod, Richard, Pax, Mark and myself.

Our opponents are 'Side By Side', which is named from a bar.

We lost the toss and the opposition decided to bat first. They started reasonably well with 9 from pax's first over. I bowled the second over conceeding 11, including a wicket, and I stopped a hard ball that was hit back at me. That really stung my right hand. The third over conceeded 3 runs, then I bowled the 4th over. The balls I bowled weren't to bad, had a couple of missed catches during the over. The second last ball was hit back at me, and was then deflected from my leg onto the stumps for the runout. The first pair made 33 runs. Their second pair lost 5 runs for uniform, they tried to hit big and got out several times, and tried to make up by continuing to hit big. They ended on 29. The third pair continued to lose wickets, as the score dropped to 9. The final pair managed to successfully make the back net, and got the score upto 45.

Thorpe and Richard continued their great fielding performances with a couple of runouts and catches. I managed to take a juggled catch off the net behind the batter, and almost got another one that deflected from pax's gloves.

David and Thorpe batted first pair, they successfully hit big, with 29 from the first couple of overs. They made 50. Bob and myself batted second pair. With no pressure to score (since we already were ahead), Bob hit a five from the first ball, we had 20 from the first over faced. The next over I got bowled, and bob got runout once. I got bowled once more during the partnership, but also hit the ball a few times. We ended up making 35 total, which would have been 50 if we didn't lose the wickets.

Jarrod and Richard continued the big hitting and losing very few wickets, they set the challenge by making 55. One particular shot by Jarrod was a no ball and hit to the back net and actually went through the netball ring, so thats 9 runs including the no ball. The partnership record is 58 for the team. Pax and Mark decided that they would try and steal runs, whenever they had the chance. Pax started teeing off with the hard shots. They got the back net several times, and were a little lucky with some catches dropped. On at least 4 occassions, they were runout while trying to steal runs. We were watching as the score passed 165, and remembered the team record total. This record was 176 versus Allumanati back on 20th January 2003. During the last over, Pax hit a 7 to take the total past 170. Another couple of back net shots took the total to 180 with one ball remaining. Mark faced the last ball of the match which was a wide. Their partnership was 42 and the Final score of 182 became the new team Record.

We might move upto 2nd on the ladder, which is where we need to finish for the double chance in the finals.

Next weeks game is at 7:40pm.. This will be the first 7:40 game since before Raddis was the captain, even though he hasn't been captain for a few seasons.

I'll be putting the players statistics up here soon.

I hope to get some photos for this blog, if anyone is interested in coming to the games and take some photos, then it would be greatly appreciated.

This just in:

Yorkies v. Side By Side.

I was very happy with the form of all the guys tonight. We all put in with the bat and ball and fielded well also. Super happy with the form of newly found fill in Thorpe he has been great in his two outing with us. The Don (Jarrod) and King (Richard) have found there communication on the field and playing beautifully with 55 tonight you can't ask for much more than that. Cap'n Bob.
