Now here's how it played out. With Pax and Mahstar running a little late to the game for different reasons, we batted first with Philbert and Bruce taking to the crease first off. They had a bad start with a runout on the first ball, so that's minus 10 after one ball. They recovered in the first over to end it on -4. After that they began to fire up, Bruce started the second over with a seven, which was followed by a 3 from Phil as the accumulated 15 runs in the over. The third over had just three scoring shots for a total of 7 runs which included a four. The start of the fourth over they were facing the "third ball" rule, but overcome it with a single. Philbert and Bruce both hit a seven each with a couple of singles in between and they ended the pair with a four for a total of 39 runs.

Cap'n Bob and Mahstar took up the challenge of adding to the runs already scored. They took it a little slow with just a wide and two singles in their first over. The next over saw three wides in a total of 9 runs. The score was upto 60 half way through their third over before Bob was Caught and then runout in consecutive balls. Three from the last ball of the over got the score back to 53. The pair ended with Bob getting caught again, and Mahstar being bowled from the final ball. The partnership was 7.

Don and King tried to set a reasonable target, but struggled in their first two overs with five wickets including three consecutive runouts. It really appears that these two bat much better when they are separated and I guess it means they won't be threatening the pairs mvp race. So after the two overs the score had dropped from 46 to 33. They started to recover in the next over with King hitting a seven, which helped give them 14 in the over. They faced several wides and no balls in these overs which allowed them to get the score to 56 for a partnership of 10 runs.

Pax and Thorpe had the challenge of setting a good score, but lost a wicket in their first over with a runout, but they got 10 runs from the next over through singles and 2s. Thorpe was runout twice in the next over, but they also successfully stole a run to gain 6 runs from the third ball. The final over of the innings started with a wide, and built the run total with a seven by Thorpe from the third ball, and another noball which Pax hit a five on. They scored 22 runs in the over for a total of 38 in the pair. So our team total was 94 runs.

When we came out to bowl they started on minus twenty. Philbert (13) was hit for eight on the first ball, King (3) took the next over picking up 1 wicket. Thorpe bowled the best over of the match taking 3 for minus 17, The Don (-7) picked up 2 wickets to end the first pair for a partnership of -8.

The next pair added 21 runs, with Bruce (7) taking a wicket, Mahstar (5) picking up a runout, Pax (8) also taking a wicket and Mahstar (1) getting another runout. They almost got the score back to zero, but starting so far down made it almost impossible with the wickets being lost consistently.

The third pair started badly with a stumping on the jackpot ball. Bob (-1) got that wicket, King (-4) had two catches taken, Pax (-6) got a team hattrick with two runouts after a catch and Philbert (4) closed out the pair with a runout in his over. The pair made -7.

The last pair came in needing 109 runs to win, and as expected weren't able to get anywhere near the total. Bruce (2), Bob (-11), Thorpe (10) and the Don (5) were given the ball. Bob's over saw two stumpings and a runout. There was a wicket in each of the other three overs. and they ended with a total of 6 runs for the pair and -8 for the team. That gave us a 102 run victory.

That's a significant change from when we played them last season as they beat us then.
