vs Bulls

The ladder hadn't been updated from the previous week. The Bulls were on top of our ladder.

At the Game time, the Bulls only had six players, so we bowled first. My first over ended up with three or four wickets, including some leg side stumpings. My second over wasn't as good conceeding 18 runs. Their first pair made 17. Second pair made 28, 3rd pair 23, and final pair made 3.

There were some great fielding efforts, inparticular by Richard (who took some catches and made some runouts early on) there was a nice flick that took the bails, Bendy took a catch that was hit at him, bounced from his knee and lodged in his top. My fielding wasn't the best, missed a few throws at the stumps from close range. :( Ah well..
Pax and Mark both had some great keeping efforts, with stumpings and runouts.

Having been set 72 for victory, Super Dog faced the jackpot ball, with Bendy at the other end.. First ball was a wide.. so much better than a wicket. They both played some real nice strokes, and stole a few runs. Never losing a wicket they made 41.

That took the pressure off of the rest of us. Bob and myself batted second pair. We were doing fairly well, with no wickets first over. The second over I made two bad running decisions and got runout. We got the runs back in the third over, Bob hit the back net at least once, We faced several wides or no balls. We ended up making 25, which is about our average partnership. We then needed a further 6 runs for victory.

Jarrod and Richard batted third and took it easy. After losing a few wickets through runouts and being bowled, they made 18. So once Pax and Mark came in the game had been won. With absolutely no pressure to score runs, Pax played some risky big shots and they came off. They even managed to steal a run whilst the bowler had the ball and getting ready to bowl. They scored 42 to make our final score of 126 runs.

On my estimate we should be 3rd after this week. We just need to made the top two for the extra chance in the finals. We might end up playing this same team in the finals.
