My first game of the new season.

I missed the first match of the season a few weeks ago, due to my sister being down.
We were to play at 6:30 versus Black Hill Steves. I got there early but realised at about 6:20 that i have forgot my other glasses. I can't afford to risk playing in my new glasses. So I had to drive home to get them and when i got back to the center, they were in the second over. Yorkies were bowling first, which was good. By the time I got ready with my knee brace etc, I got on court at the end of the second over.. I was then put on to bowl my first over. All the balls I bowled were pretty much online. Didn't conceed to many runs, and got some wickets. I shouldn't practice before the game. The second over i bowled, was also pretty good.. only a couple off target.

The place that I field is on the off side on the batting crease against the net. I took one catch when the ball was edged into the roof net and then bounced off my left hand and i caught it in my right.
Later on in the match i fielded one off the side net and flicked it backwards at the stumps and was amazed when i turned around and saw it hit one stump and got the runout.

I was told later that the second over of the match, had the batters charge and miss the ball and getting stumped or runout. Without the ball landing on the pitch.

After two pairs (8 overs) they had 6 runs. Their third pair made 47 and the final pair made 43.
We should have gone harder at the second pair. anyway always better in hindsight.

Myself and Nathan batted first pair for us, first ball bad, my mistake got runout, shouldn't have run (jackpot ball) -10 runs. I got 1 then Nathan got caught, then another 2, then runout, and 1 more. -16 after the first over. The second over was heaps better we got the score back upto 3 runs. After the four overs we made 25 runs.

Our second pair was Richard and Dave, they made 22 after losing a few wickets, Mark and Ben batted third and made 16. Pax and Dog needed 34 to win the match... and got down to needing 12 from the last over to win. But lost a wicket with 4 balls left, and then needing 5 from the last ball to win. and got 2, so we lost the match by 2 runs.

So that's two loses in a row... we should have won this game. Could blame it on a few things.. like the jackpot runout of myself, or a no ball due to the keeper being outside the zone. Anyway, hindsight can cause frustration... but anyway we had fun playing.. don't get annoyed as often when we lose cricket.

Next week is 8:50pm.
