10th March 2008 vs SFS

Having finished top of out ladder we faced the 2nd placed SFS. It started badly for us losing the toss and having to bowl first. We had no luck in the field for the whole night.

Bowling figures:

King 1 for 10 ( 1st, 7 & 13th, 3)
Mahstar 1 for 26 (2nd, 17), & 10th, 9)
Pup 3 for 14 (3rd, -1 & 11th, 15) was on a hattrick for his third ball.
Thorpe 1 for 24 (4th, 17 & 15th, 7)
Bob 1 for 15 (5th, 11 & 12th, 4)
Phil 1 for 4 (6th, 1 & 9th, 3) plus a jackpot runout
Pax 3 for 20 (7th, 28 & 14th, -8) a hattrick of 7s, three catches in his second over.
The Don 0 for 31 (8th, 15 & 16th, 16)

Total score 134.

Thats a tough chase and Pax with King where going along fine until the third over when they lost two wickets. The partnership of 26 was the teams highest for the night. Pax made 7 from 10 after a two wickets (runout and caught) and also faced a wide. King made 11 from 10 plus faced 2 wides and a noball.

Phil and Mahstar made a terrible start with a runout before adding to the total. A seven from the last ball of the first over took the partnership above zero. The next over saw just 6 runs, and then a hattrick of wickets with two runouts and a catch dropped the total to 20. Having got the partnership back upto zero three more wickets fell in the fourth over which made the partnership minus 12. Phil hit 16 from the bat but lost it all with three wickets having faced 11 balls. Mahstar had 5 from the bat, but four wickets netted -15 runs and just one wide called.

The Don and Pup started with an 8, but several runouts prevented them from making a decent score, they hit a couple of threes and received a couple of rare wides. The partnership was 4 runs, with The Don making 13 from the bat, but lost four wickets and Pup made 10 from the bat, but lost one wicket and faced a wide and noball.

Bob and Thorpe came in needing 117 more runs to win which is impossible against a decent team. The had a crack at it, but lost several wickets. Thorpe hit a seven and a five which helped get the score upto 27, before some more late wickets put the pair in the red. They finished on -2 for a team total of 16. Bob hit 11 from the bat facing 13 balls but was out 4 times. Thorpe hit 18 from the bat facing 9 balls and losing 3 wickets.

The umpire hardly called any legside wides when we were batting which cost us maybe 12 runs, but what let us down the most was our fielding. We missed heaps of chances in the field with catches and missed runouts, which cost us around about 50 runs.

King and Bob both took great catches in close which were some rare highlights.
