This game we were almost back to the regular lineup, but a late withdrawal by Daints allowed Tim Harmer to enter the lineup for just the second time.
We won the toss and chose to field first, and we started well keeping their first pair to just 9 runs with the overs bowled by King (-8), Mahstar (5), Thorpe (6), and Mahstar (6). The second pair added 11 runs with Tim (2), Bob (12), the Don (-3) and Philbert (0) taking the ball. Bob's over saw a catch and back to back 7s. The third pair added 5 runs with the overs taken by Bruce Reid (-3), King (17), Tim (0), Philbert (-9). The pair failed to run on the third ball rule so Mahstar picked up the ball and took the bails when the batter hadn't left the crease. The final pair took the score from 25 upto 66 which gave us something to chase. The final overs were bowled by Thorpe (5), Bob (11), Bruce (10) and the Don (15). Bob got a stumping but got hit to the back net twice with a 5 and a 7. For the second game in a row the final over was taken for 15 runs which included one 7 and a catch.
There were some great catches taken, including Thorpe taking a one hander when the ball was past him and he wasn't watching the ball.
Bob and Mahstar started the chase with a noball and four more runs in the first over. The next over saw 3 extras in the middle and another six runs, we continued into the third over with almost two runs a ball, another 4 by Bob saw us get 11 from that over. The fourth over we stole a run on the second ball, and the over ended with two wides and then the final ball Mahstar hit the ball almost straight to the fielder and was runout at the bowlers end. The total partnership was 35. Bob made 18 from 12 balls and faced two noball and two wides, while Mahstar made 1 from 12 after the runout and faced two wides and a noball.
Don and King returned as a partnership in the second pair and lost four wickets on the way to 14 which included three runouts and a stumping. They shared the strike pretty well with many twos. Don made 6 from 12 after two runouts and a stumping, while King made 4 from 12 after a runout and faced two wides.
Philbert and Bruce lost three wickets on the way to 33 which saw our score at 82 after the third pair. Phil hit a five and a seven, but the three wickets meant he made 7 from 12 and faced a noball. Bruce hit two 4s and two 3s on the way to making 24 from 12 balls. Phil was runout after hitting the back net as the ball went straight to the fielder.
Thorpe and Tim closed out but made it a bit more difficult for themselves by losing back to back wickets in the first over and the third over. Thorpe got runout and bowled in the first over and then Tim got bowled twice in the third. They still stayed ahead of the target score, but made just 3 runs. Thorpe made 1 from 14 with two wides and two wickets, while Tim made -2 from 10 after the two wickets.
We won the game by 19 runs.
