First game back in the new year, and we lost the toss and had to field first. Our team consisted of Cap'n Bob & Mahstar, Pax & Raddis, Don & King, Daints & Thorpe.
Our previous meeting vs the Marbles saw a large loss chasing 130. This game their first pair made 29 with the overs bowled by King (9), Mahstar (6), Thorpe (2), and Pax (12). Raddis took a nice catch in the second over. The second pair started with a jackpot wicket with "The Don" bowling the guy. The pair made -8 with the overs by Don (-11), Raddis (2), Mahstar (-2) and Thorpe (3). Raddis bowled like he'd never been away from the game, Mahstar's over started with a great catch by Thorpe and the next ball was hit on the toe of the bat and trickled onto the stumps and took the bails off. The third pair made 31, with the overs taken by Bob (20), Daints (3), Pax (4) and King (1). Bob was little unlucky bowling himself to guys that were going for the back net and getting away with it. The last pair also made 31 with the overs by Raddis (3), Daints (8), Bob (15) and Don (8). We were chasing 84 to win.
Bob and the Little Mahstar opened and started cautiously with a dot first ball, then Bob got caught next ball. The only runs from the first over came from two wides. The second over Bob got himself runout when he decided to run after Mahstar missed the ball, and Mahstar was bowled on the last ball. We recovered quite well without losing another wicket for the pair. Bob hit two 4s including the final ball of the pair. We said at the start a target of 21 was a good start and we finished the pair on 18. Bob made 4 from 9 balls and faced two wides, while Mahstar made -2 from 15 balls and faced six wides.
Pax and Raddis started with a wide and followed by Pax being stumped. They didn't lose anymore wickets after that and with a couple of 3s and some 2s got upto 34. Pax made 5 from 12 balls and faced two wides and a no ball, while Raddis made 13 from 12 and faced four wides.
Don and King continued their regular stance losing just one wicket on their way to 34 runs. Don made 18 from 13 including the one wicket. Don faced one wide, hit a three and a seven. King made 10 from 11 and faced a wide and no ball.
Daints and Thorpe came in with us already in front which meant no real pressure of winning the game. The started the first over with a wide and ending it with a four and a runout. The next over Thorpe hit another four, taking the score upto 105. The third over saw three runouts and the last over Thorpe hit a five and they ended with two runouts which left the score at 92.
Mahstar took at catch overhead late in the innings, which added to the three wickets with the ball and being able to face six wides in fifteen balls when batting.
