The game wasn’t fantastic but the tipping was riveting. Of the 8 players in the team, 6 were given a best-on-ground by at least one person and 1st and 4th were divided by only 3 votes. Thorpedo blasting back into the team with votes and Phil making a push for the trophy backing up with a 2.
Final 3-2-1 were:
Votes for MVP
3 – Thorpe “For supporting young Dainton.”
2 – Phil – “Because he’s the only other left handed batsman.”
1 – Bruce – “For the anticipation of smashing the stumps with the left arm bolt, no matter how many times we were disappointed.”
Two votes for Phil sees him draw level with the Cap’n and the 3 sees Thorpe, who returns to the team permanently, in a great position to take out the cup with a strong finish to the season.

The Don and The King close the gap on Cap’n and Mah-Star but with The Don off on his world tour it’s really a matter of too little, too late. Give the boys the trophy now and they can join Dean – soon to be crowned Australian Idol – on the podium.
