MVP 14/8/06 - Young Bulls

Despite vote fixing allegations, it was clear to all that the standout batting pair for the week was the combination of Phil with his awesome display of power hitting and Chanka playing the restrained anchor role. As a result, these two picked up all the 3 votes between them. The battle for the 1 vote was a lot tighter with all but one player receiving votes but in the end, the class of Thorpie won out (despite the dubious description by one member of the suspected “voting block”, awarding him votes as “the other fill in”). But still, I’m sure all would agree, as worthy of the 1 vote as any other contender.

The only real vote fixing came from Daints, attempting to give a vote to his usual partner, Pax! Cheating’s fine, but let’s try and make it a little less obvious, boys!

Final 3-2-1 were:

Votes for MVP

3 – Phil - "Smacked em everywhere. Great pressure fielding. Unlucky on so many occasions."

2 – Chanka - "A great batting display on his return to the team."

1 – Thorpie - "Elegant batting and copious energy in the field."

Running Total MVP

3 – The Don, Phil

2 – Cap’n, Chanka

1 – Little Mah-Star, Thorpie

With fill-ins being the order of the day, the only two regular pairs to have played both games have opened up a nice little break on the rest, despite the Phil-Chanka combination bursting in with a big score. It’s a long way to go but, as for last season, it looks as though the Pairs race could be all about consistency.

Pairs Totals:

The Don – The King – 32

Chanka – Phil – 29

Cap’n – Little Mah-Star – 20

Daints – Thorpie – 8

Pax – Daints – 6

Thorpie – Malpass - 1

It'd probably be me that didn't get any votes. Which means Bob got 3.
