Our player line up included, bob, david, pax, daints, Malpass, Bendy, Super Dog, and myself.

The team we were playing were a group of young guys that had superb fielding talents.
We lost the toss and were sent into bat. Super Dog opened with Bendy and got away to a great start with an easy 12 from the first over, they didn't lose a wicket in the four overs faced. They finished on 39. Cap'n Bob and myself batted second pair, Bob played the jackpot ball nicely to the back net for a total of 8, the first or second ball I faced, I hit to the fielder on the leg side, and he made the long throw hitting the top of the stumps on the bounce, so I was runout. One ball I faced that was on the 3rd ball rule, I kneed it straight back to the bowling crease, some fielders thought I hit it with the bat. We got the run. We pulled the score back out to 48 after facing two overs, Bob got caught out once, and runout when the ball I hit was stopped and thrown at the keepers stumps. They had the reflexes to make the great stops and runouts. We ended up with a partnership of 20.

Our third pair consisted of two of my former batting partners, Malpass and David. Coming in with the score on 59 meant that there was little pressure on them. Playing their natural game, they both hit the ball hard, reaching the back net on several occasions. They also stole a few runs with little risk. It was amazing to watch as they broke the record for a partnership score for the Yorkies. They made a total of 62, Pax and Daints came in with the score on 121. Our previous match against the Bulls saw them make 71, and we made 126 chasing.
Pax and Daints continued their consistent understanding of making runs, with the side net shots and occasional back net, they lost very few wickets in making 43 runs. This took our total to 164.

Seeing that score on the board when you come into bat is a little daunting. Even though its really just 41 runs per pair which can be achieved through consistant side net shots, 2 runs a ball makes 12 runs an over and 48 for the pair. It seemed like they had in their minds, that they needed to charge and hit the back net.

This works for some players, but this team kept missing and losing wickets.
I bowled the 2nd over of the innings, and it was all over the place, I think only one landed on the pitch. I conceeded about 17 to 20 runs. The two overs after mine brought the score back down, with several wickets. My second over was to the second pair and was much better, the first ball was straight and hit hard straight back and Malpass caught hit just before it reached the back net. I tried a couple of faster balls, and some spin. I even got the double bouncing ball past the batter. My second over conceeded close to zero total. By the end of the 8th over we had them back under 10 runs. Their third and fourth pairs also tried the charging and failed, several stumpings and runouts took the total to as low as minus 32. They finished on minus 27, so we might get an extra bonus point.

Some memorable fielding efforts was Malpass's catch one handed leaning back after the ball hit the side net just before the back net for a wicket instead of seven runs. There was some superb runouts made by Malpass and Bendy. Some great keeping work by Daints saw several stumpings taken.

Next week we play at 8:50pm, it'd be great to see more people come and support us.
